5th grade Band

The 5th grade band program has been in existence for 6 years with the purpose to expose rising 6th graders to the magic of music. Seaford School District has approximately 90 students in 5th grade band from both Frederick Douglass Elementary and Seaford Central Elementary. In 5th grade, the students can choose between flute, clarinet, alto saxophone, trumpet, trombone, French horn, and baritone. Once students move to Seaford Middle School, they can continue with the instrument from 5th grade, or try oboe, bassoon, tenor or bari saxophone, and tuba.

In 5th grade, students enjoy a small group lesson once a week taught by our 5th grade band teacher. Students practice at home with the instruments they have borrowed from the district or their own personal instruments. A select group of students at each school travel to the buildings to perform small winter music concerts, and all students engage in the spring concert.
