Bus Rules

Parents are encouraged to familiarize themselves with the bus rules and review them with their children. We also recommend parents work cooperatively with the bus driver to ensure the safety of the students on the bus.
Per Delaware State Law, students in grades KN-6th grade have a 1-mile walk zone from their school and students in grades 7-12 have a 2-mile walk zone. These students living in these walk zone areas do not qualify for transportation.
PreK and Kindergarten students MUST have a parent/guardian at the bus stop to receive their child.  Please see the PreK/Kindergarten Parent Letter for more details.

~Be at the bus stop before (5-10 minutes before) the bus arrives. Buses are not required to stop if no one is waiting at the stop.
~Obey the driver promptly.
~Occupy assigned seat quickly and remain seated facing forward (no feet in the aisle) at all times.
~Classroom conduct and indoor voices must be observed at all times. You may speak quietly to those sitting next to you.
~NO eating, drinking, smoking or chewing gum on the bus at any time (safety concern).
~Keep hands, feet and belongings to yourself and inside the bus at all times.
~Keep the bus clean and orderly and do not abuse or damage equipment.
~Use acceptable language at all times—NO profanity, rude gestures, teasing or bullying at any time.
~Do not distract the driver. Unnecessary conversation with the driver are not allowed when the bus is in motion.
~Misuse of cell phones or other electronic devices will not be tolerated.
~Exit the bus only at the approved stop or location.

Riding the bus is a privilege! Abuse of the above rules may result in the loss of that privilege.
