CRITICAL NEED REIMBURSEMENT PROGRAM

Deadlines:
DHEO anticipates opening the fall 2020 application on January 4, 2021 with a deadline date of 4:30 PM Thursday, February 4, 2021, the link to the online application can be found below once the application opens.
Eligibility Requirements:
- Applicants must be full-time employees of a Delaware public or charter school who teach on a valid Emergency Certificate or a Certificate of Eligibility in a critical need area as defined by the Delaware Department of Education and are taking coursework to enable them to achieve Standard Certification.
- Recipients must complete course with a 2.0 GPA or higher on 4.0 scale ("C" or higher).
- Delaware residency is not required.
- Recipients can attend any regionally accredited college.
- Applicants can submit for reimbursement for only one course per term (fall and spring)

Reimbursement Procedures:
DHEO will review all online applications and if a teacher is eligible for the Critical Need Reimbursement program the appropriate funds will be sent directly to the teacher's district or charter school.
Reimbursement is made to eligible teachers for up to the cost of one 3 credit course per term (fall and spring) and one registration fee (maximum $30) within program funding limitations.
For the 2020-2021 academic year the reimbursement amount will be pro-rated to a maximum of $1,300 per eligible course
Application Procedures
The fall 2020 application will open on January 4, 2021:
Once you complete the online application please forward the following documents to dheo@doe.k12.de.us before the application deadline of 4:30 PM Thursday, February 4, 2021.
- Unofficial college transcript showing your name, the course name and the course grade for which reimbursement is being requested.
- Itemized tuition statement from your college for the fall 2020 semester showing your name, the name of the course and the tuition and fee for the course for which you are seeking reimbursement.
- A copy of your valid Emergency Certificate or Certificate of Eligibility for the critical need area in which you are currently teaching.
