New Seaford School District Athletic Facility

During the COVID pandemic, the district recognized the limitations of our current weight room. Due to social distancing and HVAC requirements, we could only accommodate between 8-10 athletes at a time in that space. At that time, Supervisor of Buildings and Grounds, Mr. Doug Henry, worked with a team to brainstorm a better scenario for the future.

The team saw an opportunity with a pole building that was used as a Buildings & Grounds shop from 1996-2020. This could be a second weight room and training building in addition to the existing room at Seaford High School. That vision has now come to a reality of a renovated space for our athletes and students.

The building is centrally located in the heart of our athletic fields on our middle and high school campus. The building has had both exterior and interior upgrades. This facility now houses our athletic uniforms, equipment, and a new commercial washer and dryer to clean and increase the longevity of our uniforms and equipment. Additionally, there are offices for our athletic trainer and our athletic director.

The state-of-the-art mechanical room ensures our students and athletes can train safely under any pandemic or restricted space requirements, meeting proper ventilation standards.

We are proud of this project and know that it will not only serve our students and athletes, but we believe it will continue to foster a sense of pride within our school community.
