On Tuesday November 2nd, 2023, at 0712 hours, the Seaford Police Department along with the Seaford Volunteer Fire Department and Sussex County Paramedics responded to the intersection of Virginia avenue and Bridgeville Highway for a motor vehicle collision involving a pedestrian. As a result of the collision, a 16-year-old pedestrian sustained significant injuries was flown to a regional hospital by Delaware State Police Trooper 2 in stable condition. The operator of the vehicle, a 26-year-old female from Bridgeville, did not sustain any injuries and was cited for Inattentive Driving and Failing to Yield the Right of Way to a Pedestrian in a Crosswalk. The roadway was reopened after approximately 48 minutes.
